In this video I unearthed a 500 million year old double-terminated quartz crystal, known as a Herkimer Diamond. It weighed over 1lbs!! This was an incredible find. The golden color comes from iron oxide inclusions, known as a “Golden Healer”.
This was one of the most memorable days I've had.I was looking for a spot to sit down to sketch and I came across an octopus. I thought it was too late for him but soon as I put him in the water he was puffing out air bubbles and changed colors. When I had to leave, he wouldn't let go of my hand. There was one supersize left in store. A double rainbow appeared, then the sky and everything around me turned pink. Definitely a day I won't forget

This is a recording of a thin slice of rock under a special type of microscope that has a polarizing filter above and beneath the specimen. Without the specimen, it is totally black because of the orientation of the polarizing filters, but because the different crystals in the rock shift the light around some light makes it through the second polarizing filter. This view is only of light distorted by the crystals.

I’ve been watching you for years! It’s called Agatized Coral and is the remnants of vast ancient coral reefs that used to cover Florida Coasts Millions of years ago. This is a rare red colored coral I found in Florida :)
