Because we have so many, I see this daily. 3 reasons why this happens, and reason 1 is our farm 1) The hen is too young and her body is not yet ready to produce a hard shell. 2) The hen is not getting enough calcium in her diet. 3)The hen is under too much stress.

I work in the Dairy Department for Kroger (Dillion's if you are in Kansas), and I was getting broken eggs off of the shelves, when I came across this one egg that had its shell broken, but the membrane is still intact. I have never seen this to an egg before. Usually when an egg cracks, yolk comes out. But not this egg.
