  4. Golden gyroscopic spinner spins with a paper cube on the table00:12

Golden gyroscopic spinner spins with a paper cube on the table

This is a gyroscopic spinner inside a paper cube that is balancing on a stand. I've made the paper cube and recorded the fascinating gravity defying motion of the structure. It is a nice scientific toy that can be bought on the web! You can see the spinning gyroscope in the second clip (which has been slowed down). The spinner works according to the principle of angular momentum, and its properties of maintaining its orientation and angular velocity are used in many objects, varying from navigation systems (such as motorcycles, ships and even The James Webb telescope) to technological devices (such as laptops and phones on the smaller scale). The gyroscopic spinner can also be balanced on a string, and many educational channels have looked at objects such as the bicycle wheel to describe gyroscopic precession, angular moment and rotational motion. Thank you.

Squid chromatophores spots on squid skin moves

Squid chromatophores in action. This small squid is a specimen taken from a fishing vessel for scientific analysis (I work for a state scientific monitoring agency) and it's so fresh that the color-changing cells are still alive. They're just functioning off of reflex in this clip, but when cephalopods (squid, octopuses and cuttlefish) are alive they can control these cells extremely well and use them for camouflage and visual communication with other members of their species.

    Picking up birds into tunnel

Matthew works at a burrowing owl conversation/scientific project for 3 years now. With the decline of badgers in his scientific area, there is a lack of badger holes which these little holes depend on for nests. They lay eggs in them and raise them from the burrows. In this video he picks up some of the owls in a black bucket and releases them into these man made burrowing tunnels.

Digital camera with small radiation detected by the machine

This camera lens has a radioactive coating on it. It is slightly radioactive but not dangerous. This was filmed in my last year of high school, it is my camera. Feel free to cut it to make it shorter. If possible you can filter out or cut out the voices, it is my physics teacher speaking. Contact me if you need more (scientific) details ;-) Greetings from Germany! Roman

  9. Beetle webbed slowly by a small spider00:44

Beetle webbed slowly by a small spider

One evening we went to our sun room for a smoke, and found this event unfolding. A bug was entangled in a spider's web. We saw the way the spider was actively applying his web around the alive bug. If you decide to feature (which I hope you do), I can do more research to find the scientific names of the insects.

Wood burning fire drawing of spider

This is a wood burning art form called pyrography. I quit my job and started my own business a little over a year ago selling fine art in this medium. I’ve sold over 100 pieces including this one of a scientifically accurate jumping spider.

Type of rock called pyrite shown by the filmer

This is known as pyrite or more commonly ‘fools gold’ due to its resemblance to actual gold, as a result it has become infamous due to people mistaking it, when in actual fact it is worthless.

Collab DailyDoseOfInternet - Rain flies slow motion light chill music

Immediate after the rain, winged insects in large number seen over light are mainly sexual forms of termites ( mainly, Odentotermus obesus). Termite colonies in wild intended for proliferation, start producing alate males and females in advance before rain. They come out in large numbers ones rain starts and being highly phototrophic rush towards light nearby. These alates are actually on their nuptial flight. After mating males meet their natual death while females are ready to start new colonies.Wings of these alates are highly fragil. They drop down on little jerk. More than 99% of them go unmated and finished off mainly by predators.Locally known as 'Rain Flies' which is not the scientific name but called that as their presence usually means it's going to rain.

Black red bird flies white railing door

This was filmed in Panama city, Panama, where we call these birds sangre de toro (bulls blood) because of their black and scarlet colored feathers mimicking a bleeding bull, but their official scientific name is Ramphocelus dimidiatus. Small black and red bird flies from the white railing to the metal door and back. Day time, pet, animal, house.
