Crinoid fossil on wooden table stone tentacles
No audio. This is a fossilized crinoid, called Jimbacrinus bostocki. It was found near a town called Gascoyne Junction, in Western Australia. It dates back to the Permian period, roughly 280 million years ago. It lived on the sea floor off the coast of Pangaea, where it used its arms to filter out plankton and other small organic matter from the water.
