Snow covered valley with light shining in center

Nick and his friend were snowboarding in Whistler Blackcomb and were on the gondolas to go up the mountain. They noticed in the middle of the snow covered mountain valley was a light pillar that had randomly appeared. After a ton of research they found out that this light phenomena was a sundog or subsun. It's incredibly rare and occurs when the sun refracts light off ice crystals and creates this anomaly.
