Submitter records a pinkish light refraction in the sky caused by low temperature in the atmosphere, thus affecting the sunlight color reflected
01/05/2024Rare rainbow clouds appeared above the north of Scotland this morning. Also known as Nacreous, Mother of Pearl, or Polar Stratospheric clouds. The strange phenomenon is caused by high arctic clouds that contain tiny ice crystals that refract the sunlight. Birds flying on the sky with nacreous clouds in slow motion.
01/02/2024Just before christmas in Norway, there was a beautiful mother of pearl-clouds phenomenon one night! These are pretty rare, and I´ve never seen them as bright as this! So i went ahead and recorded a timelapse of the sunset with the dramatic and colorful clouds, it was really beautiful <3
01/01/2024My 14 year old daughter Erin Moore filmed this clip when we were out feeding our sheep just after sunset on Christmas Eve 2023. We've never seen rainbow clouds before. There have been numerous sightings over the last few days in the UK according to the news. We know it's very rare here and thought it might be something you would be interested in? We live in Hatton, near Aberdeen, Scotland. I'm subscribed and we love your channel. Very best wishes, Pete and Erin Moore.
01/01/2024I apologise if it’s not completely visible, but it is footage of some very colourful clouds. I haven’t seen before I looked it up and apparently they’re known as nacreous clouds, which occur in colder climates during sun set and rise.
